Homeland Security

Helping our government fight the war on terror is one of our company's key strategic initiatives. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) works with citizens, private industry, trade organizations, and all levels of government to keep our country safe and foster the freedoms that we as Americans cherish. To this end, DHS is continually assessing vulnerabilities of our nation's citizens, critical infrastructure, and information systems, and taking the lead in evaluating those vulnerabilities and coordinating with federal, state, local, and private organizations to minimize risk.

Leveraging broad capabilities in information assurance, handheld application development, geographic information systems (GIS), and hazard modeling, EMA fully supports DHS and the Department of Defense in their mission to counter terrorism, deter threats to the homeland, and respond as quickly as possible when threats materialize.

EMA is actively involved in these efforts through science and technology projects, such as the development and engineering of cutting-edge tools and systems that enable port and harbor security and disaster modeling, and deliver essential information to first responders and bomb disposal personnel. Emergency Management Systems (EMSs) supported by EMA also provide graphical interfaces that detail up-to-date floor plans and hazardous material storage. These systems help emergency personnel quickly ascertain crisis situations and plan appropriate responses.

Ensuring the safety and security of U.S. citizens and infrastructure, as well as the preparedness of emergency response teams, is both a challenging and essential task. It's one we're proud — yet humbled — to support as we recognize that our success and the success of others in this vital mission is something the precious lives of American citizens continually depend upon.
