Our Humble Beginnings

Eagan, McAllister Associates, Inc. (EMA) began its operations in 1984 with one contract; two employees, co-founders Rex Eagan and John McAllister; and one small office near NAS Patuxent River in Lexington Park, Maryland. Through the mid 1980s, EMA provided engineering, management, and logistics support for Defense programs including carrier air traffic control and landing systems (ATC&LS), tactical aircrew combat training systems (TACTS), shipboard datalinks, computer security, and command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I). Through its work associated with these and other Navy programs, EMA quickly earned a distinctive reputation for its top-quality solutions and exceptional customer support. Over time, as information technology (IT) and associated engineering issues and concerns began moving to the forefront in both government and commercial arenas, satisfied clients naturally looked to EMA for creative, high-tech solutions to their evolving IT challenges.

Twenty years later...

EMA immediately answered its customers' demand for expanded high-tech support by focusing its efforts on the growth and development of its IT and engineering-related capabilities and service offerings. Through these efforts, EMA has emerged as a world-class IT leader, widely recognized for its innovative, customer-specific solutions and support. By the numbers, EMA's success translates into over 1,541 talented employees at sites nationwide, annual revenues of $167 million, and a continued average annual growth rate of over 28%. EMA's success is also validated by its frequent ranking among top contractors by both government and industry publications. In January 2006, EMA was ranked at number 39 in the Department of Defense's annual list of top Navy contractors. In May 2003, EMA was ranked at number 77 in Washington Technology magazine's annual list of Top 100 Federal IT Services Contractors. And in September 2002, Government Executive magazine ranked EMA as the Navy's 49th largest contractor overall.

In December 2003, EMA was acquired by AMSEC LLC, a full service supplier to the commercial and Navy maritime industry. AMSEC LLC was formed in June 1999 as a business partnership between Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS). In July 2007, EMA became a wholly-owned subsidiary of SAIC and ended its partnership with AMSEC.
